Jill Jameson, not-to-be-missed speaker
Our group’s April meeting hosts a fascinating speaker whose long career unites the two big topics of
aid and environment, both dear to the Hills community.
Jill Jameson has worked with people from Burma/Myanmar for
many years. She also works with Burmese Chin and Karen refugees in Australia,
at the Foundation for Survivors for Torture, facilitating peace-building and
community-strengthening.
She has worked in community development, primary health care
and disaster response in Sudan, Ethiopia and Eritrea, and with the
government-in-exile of Tibet on a plan for the future of Tibet.
Strengthening the capacities of civil society, care for the
environment and sustainable development from the bottom-up, have been the
priorities of her work.
Jill re-visited Burma in January, where she witnessed the
government’s swell of change towards democratic elections, just held in March.
Please join us for just one hour to hear Jill share insight
and examples of her work:
