Oxfam at Survival Day, 26th January

12 PM- 4.30 PM at Borthwick Park (next to Belgrave Pool) Benson St, Belgrave Melways 75/F11. This outdoor venue allows people to relax under the trees or as they wander amongst the stalls.

Activities and workshops will include a didgeridoo meditation, Aboriginal flag and badge making for kids, traditional basket weaving and a traditional dance workshop. There will also be a range of indigenous craft stalls, bush tucker BBQ. Belgrave is honoured to have Bill Nicholson Wurundjeri Elder perform a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony and Aunty Dot Peters will also speak on the day.

Belgrave Survival Day gives people a chance to not only be educated and entertained but by their presence at the event they can help take a stand on Australia Day. A stand that recognizes the ongoing historical wrongs done to the Indigenous people of Australia, and a stand for a future for all Australians based on justice and mutual respect.

The event is organised by a committee of volunteers and generously funded by the Yarra Ranges Council.

If you would like to volunteer on the day then please call Davey Heller on 0488 619 444 or via email at survivalday@gmail.com
