Gardens, Art and East Africa

Some great and profitable events in the last few months.
In September, we were invited to cater for afternoon teas for Shirey Carn's beautiful Open Garden in Monbulk. Our cakes wove their magic, and, combined with Shirley's generous donation of gate takings, raised $1300 for Oxfam.

In November, Erica and Carol organised Artists for Oxfam, a weekend art show of well-known artists at the Hut Gallery, Ferntree Gully. This was a lovely event, with impressive art, opened by Federal Member for Latrobe, Laura Smyth, with music by Carla Whiteley.

Through commissions, sales, hanging fees and those cakes again, we raised "a lot" of money for Oxfam.

Timing couldn't have been better, as proceeds will be matched by the Federal Government's East Africa special project, ending in November. Foreign Minister, Kevin Rudd, announced this initiative on the steps of local Tecoma Uniting Church a month prior.
