Speakers on Wadeye (Port Keats), NT

Hills residents, Pat O’Meara and Rosemary Hogan will speak about changes they have experienced in Wadeye, the Northern Territory’s largest Aboriginal community.

Both were teachers in the Catholic mission in the 70s. Since then, they have become drawn into the life and concerns of Wadeye and returned several times.

They have organised a student exchange between the school and Mater Christi College, Belgrave, and documented some of the unwritten genealogy of the community.

They will give a presentation about observed changes over their 30 year span of connection, particularly since the Northern Territory’s 2007 Emergency Intervention.

Venue: BELGRAVE LIBRARY
Date: Thursday October 28
Time: 8-9pm (Light supper included)

Enquiries: Judy 9754 7090
